Cross-curricular, cross-cultural learning for schools

The art-based selection of learning activities was written after I worked as a community artist in Puebla, Mexico. My work placement was part of the partnership between UK charity Charlotte Miller Art Project, and Fundacíon Juconi in Mexico which aims to help break the cycle of poverty and violence that affects children and their families.

There are two cross-curricular and cross-cultural programmes – one for primary, the other for secondary schools – which fulfil many curriculum learning objectives. The materials centre on Mexican culture and Spanish language, with history, history of art and, by using elements of Juconi's methodologies: PHSE, RE, and SEAL.

Workshops are priced at £275 per day (£175 half day) and are fully backed by CMAP and Juconi. The aim of the workshops are both to meet curriculum language objectives and raise awareness for both charities. Schools are welcome to choose to support the charities and the programme may be extended.
